This was literally me! 🤣 I absolutely rang in the new year crocheting. I posted about my little washcloths project on Facebook, along with the above meme in the comments. Along with some lovely compliments on my work, I got a request for another washcloth (or two). So cool!
I delivered these three completed washcloths (I only finished the 3rd one today), and my MIL is going to mail them to my SIL and nieces. One for each of them. As she took them, she commented on how nice they are and how she might have to steal one. Well, now I’m making one for her!
It’s a good thing this project is simple, fun, and quick. My BIL is visiting and came out this morning while I was listening to my Bible app (earbuds) and crocheting. He commented, “So, this is what it looks like when you are relaxing and not running around.”
Yes, indeed. 💞
Washcloth Guide
5.5 mm hook with scruby yarn. 30 chain to start and SC rows until it’s about 7″ tall (long?). It works out to be about 9″ wide.
This size is meant for shower/bath washcloths. I make them smaller for kitchen use.

With these, I’m using some old stash cotton scruby yarn. I also have polyester scruby yarn. The polyester scrubbies are not as good for wiping down kitchen counters, but they do work well as shower scrubbies (like a loofah, but you can throw them in the washing machine).
One washing tip: Hang to dry. If you put them in the dryer, it’s ok. I’d use a garment/delicates bag to keep the scrubbiness texture from getting caught on the dryer vent hole bits at the back of the drum. That’s happened to me a few times.
